My name is Joe Dwyer, and I’m an investor, advisor, technologist, and serial entrepreneur. I love to transform businesses through innovation. I also enjoy teaching topics such as digital innovation, product development, and user experience design. Recently I’ve taught or presented at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Northwestern University School of Management, and Northwestern University School of Law.

Here are the projects I’m working on lately:

Digital Intent is a digital innovation firm for hire. My partners and I have assembled an extraordinarily talented and diverse team with tremendous experience in conceiving, building, and optimizing new digital products. Acquiring capital is no longer the most challenging part of digital innovation. The real challenge is assembling the top-notch digital talent that  is in so much demand that Facebook, Google, and Groupon are buying companies just to get at their people. We provide access to that sort of talent in a cohesive, soup-to-nuts form that enables our customers to explode past the competition.

OCA Ventures is an excellent (I’m admittedly biased) seed and early stage venture firm based in Chicago. For over 10 years, OCA has been investing all over the United States, and we have some very exciting portfolio companies including Cleversafe, Campus Explorer, Pinpoint MD, Red Foundry, FutureSimple, and Alert Logic.

Pinpoint MD is a portfolio company of OCA Ventures. I’m helping run the company, and Digital Intent is building the technology platform. We’re transforming the way patients and health care providers interact using our innovative patient engagement and activation platform. Market feedback and interest on the part of health care providers, hospital systems, and patients has been stunning.

I have a degree in International Relations that I don’t use as often as I’d like. I also have a law degree and an MBA from Northwestern, both of which I use all the time.
